Why Small Businesses Matter in Stamford: Doctor’s Orders of Baked Goods

Why small businesses matter

Buy small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter shines the spotlight on local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods and services for the betterment of our community. The local store movement is going viral as local businesses that are “tagged” get a chance to share their story!

You are HE Bakery products!

Three questions for Katherine Behar, founder of Bakery products.

What is your best-selling product / service?

My best selling products definitely change with the seasons and trends. Last winter it was hot chocolate bombs! Cake pops and personalized cookies seem to be here to stay.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

I always choose to support local businesses whenever possible! Turning Point keeps me caffeinated, the Stamford Diner keeps me stocked up and all the amazing vendors at Stamford Farmers Market keep my baked goods seasonal. When I’m tired and don’t want to cook on my own, Matthew’s Bakery is my go-to!

Have you “reimagined” your small business?

The plan was still to open a physical store, but with changing customer needs and the challenges small businesses face, the new plan is a food truck! A VW bus to be exact. A friend of mine made me a little food truck model as a gift a while ago and the plan is to use it as a design.

Katherine would like to name Chicos Cocina in Shippan to see next!
