Valley Pastries in Golden Valley reopened April 26 to much fanfare after being closed for nearly three months.
The bakery, along with several other businesses in the Sunny Hollow mall, had to close in early February due to a faulty sewer line that needed to be replaced.
“The city of Golden Valley told us we had to close,” said Alex Loosbrock, co-owner of Valley pastries. “We really had no choice in the matter so we had to close and they had to do an emergency repair on the sewer line. And that was the whole sewer line, it went through the whole length of the building. It was quite a project. It took longer than expected, like everything these days.
After nearly three months with no revenue, the owners are pleased to once again offer customers of Metro Northwest what many consider to be the best donuts in town.
“It’s great to see all those smiling faces,” Loosbrock said. “We love what we do in the community and we love bringing donuts to everyone, every day. So it was hard to be away, for a whole host of reasons that people can probably relate to, being a small business owner. But it’s just nice to be back.
If you want to get your hands on the most popular pastries, owners say your best bet is to either get to the store early when it opens at 6 a.m. or place your order online.
