Houston’s iconic chocolate factory, The Chocolate Bar, known for serving homemade ice cream, cakes, cookies and chocolates, has been a staple in the Houston area since 2000. Houstonia announced in late July that the dessert store would close its flagship location in Montrose and consolidate operations at its Rice Village outpost.
Now, Houston’s all-chocolate alternative has announced its new pastry chef, Grace Lapsys. Chef Grace joins their team with over 10 years of pastry and chocolate experience, having worked at the Santa Ana Star Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as the prestigious Maître Chocolatier at Ecole Chocolat. in France. Her designs range from intricate sugar carvings and edible holiday ornaments to vegan mint-based truffles to dark chocolate and dark cocoa bombs. Lapsys plans to inspire his team at The Chocolate Bar to create new desserts and wants customers to be excited about their upcoming chocolate flavors, homemade ice cream and decadent Pastry shop Doffers of esserts.
According to Food Network, Grace likes to say, “When it comes to chocolate … if you can dream about it, I can do it.”
Chef Grace’s expertise also allowed him to land a spot on the big screen. Lapsys appeared as a Food Network Season 8 contestant Holiday Pastry Championship, earlier this month. “The Food Network Holiday Baking Championship is one of the most nerve-racking competitions I have ever hosted,” said Lapsys. Houstonia. I have participated in chocolate sculpture contests for years, but without a camera. It’s a huge pressure to have cameras all around you and keep a cool head while you cook, but I’m glad I took on this challenge because I learned a lot about myself and so I participate in another competition, I will be better than already! “
In a post on Instagram, she wrote: “This year has been full of blessings !!! Really grateful to be in the cast of Season 8 and to meet all of these incredibly talented and lovely people. Well done to us !!!”
You can watch Lapsys on this Holiday Baking Championship season on the Food Network, Mondays at 7:00 p.m. CST.
