Speaking to ANI, Mahender, a guard at Cherlapally prison, said, “We attend Numaish every year, exhibit the products made by prisoners in Telangana prisons. We have a lot of demands for our products in this exhibition. We also receive orders. of the government. The reason we get so many orders is because we maintain the best quality in the market. Mahender added that they have permanent customers who come every year to buy the products made by the prison service.

“We encourage prisoners to learn the skill with the help of instructors so that upon release from prison they are qualified. They are also paid when an item is sold,” he said. He added that the department has around 10 stalls across Telangana.

Ellaiah, who is a prisoner at Cherlapally Prison, said: “I have been in prison for about 4 years now and work here. In prison, I weave clothes and make furniture. The money I earn by creating things I use for my personal purposes. ”Vittal, a customer from Musheerabad says the products made here are handmade and the material used is of good quality.

“They weave the products with their own hands and that’s why we come here every year to buy products,” said Vittal. He added that when these products are purchased, it indirectly helps the prisoners. (ANI)
