SHEBOYGAN — In a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, the Random Lake School District encouraged families to remind their children about food safety.
The post came in response to an incident at Random Lake Middle School earlier Wednesday in which a student brought baked goods to school that were shared with other children and made two students sick, according to the message.
Both students were taken to hospital for further medical treatment.
“We suspect the baked goods consumed may have contained an illegal substance. This incident is currently being investigated by authorities,” the post said.
Random Lake District Superintendent Mike Trimberger said in the post, “This is a great reminder to our families to have a conversation with your teenage child(ren). While rare, incidents like this do happen. Please take a moment to discuss safety with your children and remind them of the importance of asking questions before consuming anything that is not sealed or served by a trusted adult.”
