Mamma Musetti will bring cannolis and pastries to Wappingers Falls

For Rosa Musetti, the opening of her first café is a sort of homecoming.

“I grew up in Wappingers Falls, I went to Ketcham (high school),” she said. “There are so many people here who know me here. It’s like coming home.”

With the opening of Mamma Musetti’s, chef and owner Musetti hopes to impress villagers with homemade cannolis, Italian pastries, and breakfast and lunch options.

The cafe is expected to open by the end of March at 2649 E. Main Street.

Musetti specializes in cannolis of all flavors, made in small batches. Flavors include Chocolate, Banana Cream, Red Velvet, Pistachio, and Lemon.

“The key to the cannolis I make is to make fresh ricotta,” she said. “Some places use store-bought products, but it’s not quite the same.”

Although this is Musetti’s first coffee, it won’t be the first time his cannolis have been sold in restaurants. Musetti said she has worked with several restaurants to sell her pastries, including Angela’s Pizza Restaurant in Lake Katrine.

Once the cafe opens, Musetti said she will initially focus on cannolis and other baked goods, such as cookies and rainbow and pignoli cakes.

“Ultimately, we want to serve a small breakfast menu with egg dishes, wraps and sandwiches, and possibly a lunch menu,” she said.

The cafe will accommodate about twenty people.

Mamma Musetti’s will also serve as an event space.

“We plan to use the cafe for evening events,” Musetti said. “We want to host live entertainment and community events at least once a week.”
