A brand new company brings a little piece of France to Westchester County.
Petite Bretagne organized its grand opening on Saturday, September 4. The business is a French bakery and cafe that also offers customers a selection of French groceries and products.
Owner Pierre Yves-Miton said that upon learning that the former owner of the French bakery and cafÃ© was returning to Europe, he decided to take over the location of 152 Mamaroneck Avenue in Mamaroneck.
He said his business was different from the previous cafÃ©, as it focused its menu on the Brittany region of France, including special family recipes.
Yves-Miton said the specialty of the bakery is Far Breton, a recipe he learned from his grandmother for a pastry made with homemade caramel sauce.
âThis is something that customers have given me very good feedback on,â he said.
The bakery menu also includes croissants, sweet and savory pancakes and sandwiches. Yves-Miton added that he hopes to expand the menu to add different soups soon.
Yves-Miton said that every day he saw the store become more and more busy and that he saw a positive response from the community.
The company also receives clients from the neighboring Franco-American school in New York.
âIt’s like part of France in Westchester,â said Yves-Miton. âIt’s something for the French of course, but not only. It’s for US customers and for everyone.
He said he hopes the bakery will be a warm space that reminds customers of French Brittany.
Petite Bretagne is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
