Bakery products maker to build 423,000 square foot plant in Pineville

PINEVILLE, NC (WBTV) – A leading maker of sweet bakery products has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Pineville.

Carolina Foodswhich makes honey rolls, donuts, pies and other sweets under the Duchess brand and other labels, is teaming up with Beacon Partners to develop a 423,000 square foot facility at 12031 Carolina Logistics Drive, according to the announcement.

The location will be just a few miles from the Charlotte’s South End building that has been the home of Carolina Foods since its founding in 1934, a news release said.

When completed, Carolina Foods officials said they expected no change in its total workforce, which hovers between 300 and 400 people.

Work on the site of the new facility is expected to begin in August, with production expected to begin by the end of 2023, although the company plans to operate both facilities simultaneously until 2024, according to the announcement.

“In addition to being twice the size of our current space, our new facility will be fully air-conditioned, providing a pleasant working environment that also allows us to maintain our high quality standards,” said Carolina Foods CEO Dan Myers, in a statement. “We are very pleased to retain our home in the Charlotte area, and the new Pineville location will provide better accessibility to both our large employee base as well as inbound supply and outbound product shipments. »
