A pastry chef will open a new bakery in Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ — The smell of freshly baked cookies will soon waft through the streets of Westfield, as Kirshenbaum Baking Co. is set to open downtown in early September.

Launched by pastry chef Uyen Kirshenbaum and her husband Jeff, the bakery will open at 62 Elm Street and serve its signature cookies, along with new sweet and savory treats.

As a pastry chef, Kirshenbaum has worked in some of the best bakeries and restaurants from Paris and Las Vegas to Los Angeles, according to the bakery’s website. She also led the pastry program at a two-star Michelin restaurant.

Her husband Jeff, originally from Westfield, spent a decade on Wall Street before moving to California to pursue his passion for the hospitality industry. With his background in finance and operations and Uyen’s culinary background, they make a strong couple to start a business, the website explains. The two are now raising their families in Westfield.

Jeff is also the “Chief Quality Controller” of Jeff’s Double Chocolate Chip cookies sold at the bakery.

The bakery business originally started as an online delivery site. Customers will now be able to pick up cookie orders from Westfield’s flagship product, as well as order cookies directly from home.

The bakery also offers a variety of gluten-free and dairy-free products. Some of the items featured include salted chocolate chip cookies, double chocolate mint cookies (gluten and dairy free), Rocky Road (gluten and dairy free), lavender vanilla, and brown butter snickerdoodle.

Jeff’s cookie collection is made up of all gluten-free and dairy-free options, as Jeff cannot have dairy himself. You can view these cookies here.

Coffee, cakes and pies will also be available for purchase at the bakery.
